Write to NAB – Bank on Our Future
Ask NAB CEO Ross McEwan to fund a better future
Your voice can help stop the funding fossil fuel expansions
The Uniting Climate Action Network is supporting the Move Beyond Coal campaign. You can help by writing emails or short letters to the National Australia Bank (NAB) urging them to not fund planned mine expansions by Whitehaven Coal.
Move Beyond Coal
Move Beyond Coal campaign is a grassroots movement that aims to stop expansion of coal mines in Australia. Burning coal, along with other fossil fuels is the number one cause of global warming and harmful climate change. It does this by putting pressure on the banks that are funding those expansions. The campaign is starting with NAB and its support for Whitehaven Coal. You can find out more here.
Around 60 local Move Beyond Coal teams have formed and ‘adopted’ one or more NAB branches. They will conduct different actions at those branches culminating in a state-wide week of action, November 7-11. Many Uniting Church and UCAN members have joined those local teams.

Write to Ross McEwan

We know not everyone who cares about this issue is able to join a local team or has a local team near them. Another effective way you can be involved is to write a letter or email to NAB CEO Ross McEwan and other NAB Executives. Tell them why you care about this issue and urge them to not fund Whitehaven coal (#NotAnotherDollar).
Drafting your own letter or email
Move Beyond Coal has developed a tool you can use to send an email to NAB Executives which you can access here. Alternatively, you can directly email Ross.mcewan@nab.com.au and Cc Jordon Grace, Head of Sustainability, Performance and Engagement at Social.impact@nab.com.au.
If you want to write a letter to Mr McEwan instead, we have prepared a sample letter you can use as a guide:
